Black Hawks of Panama Releases Scorching Club Tunes on Hot Creations

Black Hawks of Panama collaborates with singer-songwriter Bisi on Nobody But You and looks to Sidney Charles for a remix!

DJ and producer Black Hawks of Panama, aka Danny Whitehead, came from a family of DJs and promoters who were active in the Manchester scene in the ’70s. Naturally, he pursued a musical career, cutting his teeth DJing on the White Isle – and this project is his house music production outlet, inspired by disco, deep house, and northern soul sounds. His studio time is approached with storytelling in mind, as is reflected in his versatility as an artist, and today he brings forth Nobody But You, three dancefloor weapons on Hot Creations.

Bisi offers stunning vocals and songwriting to the title track, “Nobody But You.” With Danny’s synthesis for inspiration, she loved the musical concept and quickly flew out to meet him – writing lyrics on the plane and ready to create. With an interesting musical background, including time as The Blues Brothers’ Mistress of Ceremonies, Bisi integrates her stage and life experience into her songwriting and performance. “Nobody But You” itself is a dangerously hot track that attains mystique by the use of flowing synth effects and Bisi’s velvety vocals. The synthesizers achieve a vintage tone that’s still rich in quality. This tune is sure to bring an instantaneous groove to any dancefloor it meets.

Heavy House Society label head Sidney Charles contributes the ’80s/New Wave-inspired remix of “Nobody But You” on this release, showing some significance between her and Danny Whitehead’s Black Hawks of Panama. Having worked together for years, they say they “…bonded over our love of artists like Patti Labelle, Prince, and Chicago House.” This inspiration is clearly heard immediately in Sidney’s remix of the tune, with clicking percussion and bubblegum synth sounds and some choppy alteration of Bisi’s vocals.

The final track on the release, “We Will Not,” offers a delightful peak-time mood with an upbeat bassline and sailing percussion. The vocal sample used is different enough from Bisi’s vocals in the title track but still offers a gentle mystique. Delayed chord plucks give some spread to the tune during the buildup, landing us in a punchy breakdown balanced out with hissing, crispy house cord harmonies.
